Founded by Ramos Mays and Mark Pydynowski, the SOMARK partnership traces its roots to Washington University in St. Louis where the two played intercollegiate baseball together.
Ramos M. Mays
The inventor of SOMARK technology. He is a broad technologist with professional training including condensed-matter physics, intelligent materials, electromagnetics, systems design and computer engineering. He possesses firsthand knowledge of the livestock industry, as he was born and raised on a cattle ranch in southwest Missouri. Ramos claims the experience of three startups, all of which were e-commerce/software based. He oversees SOMARK’s research and development efforts in addition to setting its technological vision. Ramos was a MIT TR 35 award nominee and a winner of the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Federal Small Business Administration (SBA) in 2008.
Mark C. Pydynowski
Mark began his entrepreneurial career early in life as the sole-proprietor of a lawn-care service. During his undergraduate studies in managerial economics and political science, he partnered with Mays on an IT service-based startup. His previous industry experience includes business development at a New York-based management consulting firm. Mark leads SOMARK’s daily operations and is responsible for the company’s strategic initiatives. Additionally, he is a director of the United Way of Greater St. Louis and steering committee member of the young professional group, GenNext. Mark received the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Federal Small Business Administration (SBA) in 2008 and the St. Louis Business Journal’s 30 Under 30 Award in 2007.
