The World’s Smallest RFID Chip Just Got Even Better
Somark is excited to announce that Digitail, the world’s fastest, most humane, and smallest RFID chip for lab animal identification – is now even better than before.
At Somark we are determined to keep pushing forward, always striving to build on our past achievements.
Thanks to the flexible core design of the Digitail platform, we can make upgrades to individual components – and that’s exactly what we’ve done with the world’s smallest RFID chip. Without interfering with the user interface, we’ve been able to make improvements to Digitail by making the following changes:
- Upgraded to the Impinj M Series, offering a new state of the art chip
- Added a passive component to offer better antenna tuning
- Doubled the nominal thickness of the paryleneC coating
- Upgraded the antenna to a gold plating
The result? An RFID identification tag that is more robust, and offers even greater readability and reliability. This is especially impressive considering the Digitail UHF RFID tag is already 49% quicker to read versus ear notching.
We’ve introduced a new update to the LinkTo Software app that now lets you adjust the reader power in the settings. If you find your animals read at greater than 5cm from the reader, you may wish to turn down the reader power. Otherwise, the new and improved RFID tag will continue using the same 21G needle and delivery system and can be read by Somark desktop readers and LinkTo software app.
You can see the new world’s smallest RFID chip in person at this year’s FELESA 2025 conference.
